Time to "Train"

Jesus spent the last 3 1/2 years of His earthly life pouring into twelve men.  Certainly He ministered to the multitudes, and made an impact on countless lives, but these “chosen” ones He spent intentional, sacrificial time with, He "dwelt among them".  He taught them about the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom that He had complete authority over.  He  modeled for them how to not simply make converts, but rather how to make disciples.  He lived His life with them, eating, teaching, traveling, ministering, crying, and loving.

The time had now come for these eleven men (Judas had already hanged himself) to receive their marching orders.  Jesus was very clear about what their mission was:  “Go and train everyone in this way of life.....instructing them in the practice of all I have commanded you”, in other translations it says, “Go and make disciples”.  This was not the “Great Suggestion” but rather the “Great Commission”.   And this commission was not given for just the eleven but for all who would follow them, including us.

Ask yourself how you’re doing at fulfilling your commission?  Do you have people in which you are doing life with, “training” them and “instructing” them in the things of the Lord?  Have you allowed any "trainers" in your own life to get you in top spiritual shape?  If this seems a daunting task to you be encouraged by Jesus’ own words that “He has been authorized & commanded to commission you to make disciples” and that “He will be with you always”.  It’s time church to take our commission seriously, time is short, His return is at hand, so let’s be about our Father’s business and expand His Kingdom!
